The following is a summary of recent work that has been undertaken by the Town of Blue Mountains staff. The Natural Asset Inventory and Natural Heritage Study report and appendices was recently released. Unfortunately the mapping is poor quality. The reader cannot expand the mapping to review a specific site. Not readable if expanded. One must ask then, of what value is the release of this study for comment??? Below is the link:
Town staff are currently targeting a report to Committee of the Whole addressing the content of this consultants’ report on August 27, 2024. Release of the staff report is targeted for August 21, 2024 with the meeting agenda.
Also staff has advised that the Recommendation Papers for Phase 2 of the Official Plan Review have been posted on line. The Statutory Public Meeting and Statutory Open House have been scheduled for this Fall to provide public engagement and comment opportunities.
The Recommendation Papers summarize the proposed changes to the Official Plan by theme.
There are seven Recommendation Papers:
- Sustainability, Parks and Open Space
- Housing Mix and Affordability
- Infrastructure and Servicing
- Intensification and Density
- Commercial and Employment
- Agriculture and Rural Lands
- Transportation
The Statutory Public Open House is scheduled for Monday, September 23, 2024, with the Statutory Public Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, October 1, 2024.
The complete draft of the Official Plan with proposed changes will be shared to the Towns online webpage in early September to allow public review before these meetings.
