Some Changes to the Planning Act
- Official Plans to include public consultation procedures regarding all amendments.
- Municipalities must create Planning Advisory Committees with public representation.
- No private applications to amend new Official Plans and/or comprehensive zoning by laws for 2 years.
- 10 year review cycle for Provincial Policy Statements.
- Municipalities to develop parks plans with school Board participation.
- Dispute resolution can occur during 75 days before appeal is filed with OMB (rather than 15 days from receipt as before).
- Participation in dispute resolution is voluntary.
- Appeal period for non performance remains 120 days.
- Appellants to clearly explain reasons for appeal.
- 10 year Official Plan update cycle applies to new official plans; five year review cycle applies where an OP has not been updated or replaced in its entirety.
- Municipality has 3 years to update the comprehensive zoning bylaw to conform to new Official Plan.
