The population of Simcoe county is expected to reach 555,000 by 2051. This is  54 % more than the current total of 361,000.

A March 31 report from Hemson Consulting indicated that 63 % of the  proposed increase of population in the County  will mainly occur in the south.  The report also said the County needs an additional 500 hectares for employment lands to accommodate the expected 81,000 new jobs in the next 30 years.  It suggested 210 hectares of employment lands will need to be  found in Collingwood.

The County’s Municipal Comprehensive Review is an ongoing process. A public open house on the new official plan is scheduled for June 21 followed by a public meeting on June 28th. A recommendation to adopt is expected to be sent to Council on August 9th.
